Travels in Our Motorhome ā€“ RV66 ORG ā€“ Autotrail Imala 736G- occupants - two adults of a certain age
Anglesey
From Llanberis we drove on to Anglesey over the Menai Bridge, the new one not the old one as the motorhome is too wide. Our campsite was on the far of the island, a few miles from Holyhead. This was a small, quiet campsite on a farm that looks as though it has only recently been established as a touring park. There was no site shop but we were directed to the village shop. This was a good 10-15 minute bike ride so would have been a long way to walk. We needed to stock up but I had not bothered to go to the Spa shop in Llanberis as I had assumed there would be a shop in the vicinity of the campsite. Iā€™m afraid the village shop was small, had little to offer apart from the most basic of basics and a large selection of alcohol. I have no doubt there would have been what we needed in Holyhead which was too far to bike and we were not inclined to take the motorhome.
We spent two very pleasant days biking the lanes around our part of the island. The hedgerows were full of wild flowers including honeysuckle and foxgloves. One of our cycle routes took us to Llyn Llewenan, a large natural lake noted for its wild life

Plas Newydd
Our plan had been to spend four nights on Anglesey and then drive home from there. But having exhausted the cycling in the area as well as our food apart from a few snack items we decided to leave a day early. We managed to book ourselves back into Llanberis Touring Park which meant we could spend the day at Plas Newydd house and gardens, a National Trust property. It is close to the Menai crossing and therefore just a short drive back to Llanberis from where we would travel home the next morning. As a National Trust site we knew there would be a cafe at Plas Newydd where could get something nice at lunchtime so we would not have to bother too much about our evening meal.
Plas Newydd is a marvellous way to spend a day. The grounds and gardens are extensive, running along the banks of the Menai Straits with excellent views of the bridges.

Close to the Menai Bridge we were back at Llanberis in no time to begin the process of packing up ready for our early start and our farewell to North Wales
